Brandon Marsh Nature Centre is the headquarters of the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust. Set in 220 acres, the reserve consists of large pools created by gravel extraction. There are reedbeds, willow carr, grassland and woodland areas and it is an outstanding habitat for birds.
Around the centre there are many things to keep children occupied including an arts chest, mouse maze (the cutest mice I have ever seen!), log stepping 'stones', storytelling area, games chest, quoits, wild art and nature trails. Children can also hire a rucksack (containing binoculars, bug pot & paintbrush, spotter sheets and pencil & notepad) and be an adventurer for the day. There is also a recycled garden, sensory garden and seven bird watching hides.
The cafe serves a really good range of hot and cold food and drinks.
The Education Team at Brandon Marsh provide a variety of regular children’s activities and holiday activities. Every Thursday between 10.30 and 12.00 all budding Nature Tots are invited to come and explore the natural world, with sessions ranging from “Hibernating Hedgehogs” to “Bringing the Seaside to the Midlands”. Nature Tots is for children aged between 2 and 4 years old. In the school holidays they run Crafty Drop-Ins and 60 Minute Marvels, with activities such as den building in the woods and pond dipping. Really Wild Birthday Parties are hosted throughout the year, and a new range of bushcraft courses are also available for large groups such as scout groups as well as individual families. Wildlife WATCH membership, which comes with a Wildlife Watcher’s Handbook, is a special membership for children to explore and enhance their love for nature
