The Royal Shakespeare Theatre is a fascinating space for children to explore.  There are usually free exhibitions and a number of family friendly cafes.  The Riverside Café has a playcart with colouring available for children.  The Swan Bar is more relaxed and has a large number of arts and crafts available for children and comfy seats for parents as well as the Shakespeare Insult Chair!  See for a voucher for endless coffee/tea refills at the Swan Bar.

Pick up a new adventure back packs from the cloakroom when you visit.  Aimed to help you and your family explore the words of Shakespeare and the theatre in Stratford, discover items from the rsc's collection, the stories in Shakespeare's play and how they are created.
Adventure Bags are free, please ask a member of staff to borrow one.

You can take a trip up the 36m high tower to see stunning views over the town including where Shakespeare was born and is buried.  Tickets for the tower cost £2.50 for adults and £1.25 for under 18's although children are free during school holidays.  The RSC recommend that tickets are purchased in advance but they can be purchased on the day from the box office.  There is lift access to the top of the tower.

Various different theatre tours are available, including one aimed specifically at families (for children age 6 to 11) where you can learn behind the scenes secrets and handle some of the props.  Tickets for the family tours are £6.50 per person and should be booked in advance.  Please see the website for dates and times.

There are usually children's activities available during the holidays as well as the regular monthly Story Garden for children aged 4-8
