It's the middle of August and the middle of the school holidays so it's only right that there are plenty of outdoor family events to get stuck into this weekend.
To get started, there's a Family Fun Day at Meon Vale Leisure Centre on Saturday, your favourite childrens' characters will be there as well as face painting, bouncy castle and more. If you get peckish whilst you're there you can take part in the 'Man v Food' challenge (metre long hot dog anyone?) or, alternatively, enjoy an ice-cream or afternoon tea! You could also get your ice-cream at Stratford-on-Sea on the Bancroft Terrace outside the RSC where you can see a traditional Punch & Judy show on Sunday.
The Dell outdoor theatre this weekend sees 'Seven Ages or What You Will' being performed on Saturday and 'Macbeth' on Sunday. Just over the river on Sunday afternoon the Central England Brass Band will be giving a free concert on the bandstand.
If that's put you in the mood for some rousing music, get your Union Jack flags ready and hampers packed for the Battle Proms Picnic Concert at Ragley Hall on Saturday night where the entertainment will include a cavalry display as well as fireworks, a spitfire, cannons and, of course, spectacular music! Just round the corner from Ragley you will find Hillers Farm shop with its miniature railway which is running again this weekend maybe you could stock up there for your picnic?
There's another family camping weekend at Hatton Adventure Farm this Friday and Saturday and with free entry to the farm included as well as exclusive entertainment for campers you definitely won't be short of things to do.
Fingers crossed that the bad weather from today won't continue through the weekend but if it does and you're looking for things to do inside, the Kids' Club Film at Stratford-upon-Avon Picturehouse on Saturday morning is 'Beauty and the Beast' and they are also showing Man From U.N.C.L.E., Fantastic Four, Inside Out and Mission:Impossible Rogue Nation over the weekend (there are also a sneaky extra couple of screenings of Minions on Friday and Sunday!). Escape Arts Youth Radio is running on Saturday afternoon and the Leisure Centre has Sk8house on Saturday evening.
Remember to have a look at my Countdown to Summer 2015 round-ups (Holiday Clubs, Every Day Activites, Annual Passes, Playparks, Fun For Free & When The Sun Isn't Shining) for plenty of ideas of things to do throughout the week.
Whatever you do I hope you ahve a great weekend.
